Welcome to October!
Have you ever seen an abundance of pink ribbons during this month and wondered “Why?”
October is breast cancer awareness month and we wear the pink ribbon to show it!
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. According to the CDC, there are 264,000 cases of breast cancer in women and 2,400 in men.
There are so many variables when it comes to why one person gets breast cancer and another does not. There are many things that we cannot control; however, it’s important to realize that we have control over so many more things than we might think. Eating healthy increases antioxidants that can reduce the risk of developing cancer.
Start building more foods on this list into your diet:
Kale
Arugula
Spinach
Mustard greens
Broccoli
Radishes

Oranges
Limes
Tangerines
Fatty fish
Berries
Onions
Garlic
Leeks
Scallions
Peaches

Herbs and spices
As important as it is to incorporate these foods into your diet it is equally important to begin limiting these items from your diet as well:
Sugary beverages
Processed meats
Fried food
Alcoholic beverages
Following these food suggestions can also lead to a reduction in bodily inflammation which can help prevent cancers including breast cancer
What else can I do?

If you are already at risk of developing breast cancer we recommend you get a comprehensive hormone panel, it shows how your body metabolizes estrogen, which is important when it comes to increased risk of breast cancer.
Getting a hormone panel done and seeing a doctor with experience in this field can help you better know how the estrogen in your body is affecting you. Read this blog for a better understanding of estrogen dominance and how to eliminate it.
